UNITED WAY TREE OF LIGHTS RAISES OVER $52,000 TO SUPPORT NON-PROFIT AGENCIES IN PRINCE GEORGE!
The local community came together this season to make a MASSIVE local impact by showing their #LocalLove through donations to the United Way Tree of Lights.
We are thrilled to announce that through the generosity of local businesses and individuals in Prince George, the United Way Tree of Lights has not just met its fundraising goal but has surpassed it! In fewer than 24 days, the campaign raised $52,546 to support social service programming in Prince George and brought the community together around this beautiful community tradition.

The love and support that the people in Prince George have shown for each other is inspiring and incredibly heartwarming. They answered the call and generously donated to help us reach this year’s ambitious goal.
Through our outreach and research, we have seen an unprecedented increase in the need in the non-profit sector. The socio-economic effects of the prolonged pandemic have been worse for our vulnerable friends and neighbours. The housing issues, addictions, senior isolation, mental health issues, and poverty, to name a few, have grown to a level not seen before.
The funds raised through the United Way Tree of lights campaign will go towards addressing some of the most pressing issues mentioned above that the Prince George community faces.
“What an amazing thing to get to announce just as people are set to celebrate the holidays! People from all walks of life and financial positions have come together to make such a difference in this community! From the change in someone’s pocket to the significant contributions from our sponsors, it all came together, says Trista Spencer, Executive Director, United Way of Northern BC.”
“Just like this community does time and time again…we come together to help our family, friends, and neighbours. The United Way Tree of Lights is about more than a tree. It’s a symbol of hope and of who we are as Northern BC people. Every light shines for all of us to see, to enjoy, to reminisce, and to remember. A very happy Christmas and a safe and joyful New Year to everyone – Thank you Prince George!”
But it doesn’t stop there!
To encourage the community to continue donating to this year’s United Way Tree of Lights, Michael’s Jewellers has donated a beautiful Pandora necklace and earrings set to be raffled off in the new year! The campaign will be extended to January 6, 2022 and any donation will get your name in the draw for this amazing prize! To make a donation, visit: www.uwtol.ca
