UNITED WAY TREE OF LIGHTS IS SET TO BRING HOPE AND HAPPINESS TO PRINCE GEORGE!

People in Prince George are urged to be #UnitedMoreThanEver and fully light up the Tree of Lights!

Today between 3 and 7 pm, United Way of Northern BC (UWNBC) will kick off the 4th Annual United Way Tree of Lights campaign at the Wood Innovation Square at 1142 5th Ave in downtown Prince George. Once again, the tree that brings a beacon of hope and joy will unite residents of Prince George with #LocalLove and inspire people to give to their community, helping our most vulnerable.

This year’s kick-off will be great fun with games and activities for children and families, including holiday crafting, prizes, music, free professional photos, and more! The event will be made even more special with visits by the Prince George Spruce Kings, Cantata Community Choir, and Santa himself!

In collaboration with Downtown Prince George, this Plaid Friday event focuses on what Prince George has to offer, aiming to bring the community together in the downtown core while starting the Tree of Lights campaign to raise $85,000 for local community services and programs.

To meet this goal to provide for the ever-increasing need in Prince George, we will be taking donations on-site (cash or card available!), and selling tickets for our Stocking Stuffer 50/50 Raffle. You can also join the festivities at connected downtown businesses such as The Makerie for a holiday crafting open house, and Simply Beautiful on 4th Avenue. AND…as an extra bit of fun, the first 40 people to make a donation to the Tree of Lights at the Square will receive an amazing goodie bag full of gifts from local businesses!

We cordially invite everyone to join us today between 3 and 7 pm as we launch our annual Tree of Lights campaign and celebrate downtown PG with a holiday themed event! With Central Builders coming to decorate the square, and our incredible sponsors – Canfor, Canfor Pulp, and Van Kam Freightways – this event is made possible free of charge!

Canfor and Canfor Pulp (United Way’s longest-standing partners) have come on board as the campaign’s Star Sponsor (title sponsor). We are so grateful for this partnership with Canfor, who have supported the United Way for more than 30 years, and continue to show their dedication to supporting United Way and the people of Northern BC with their generosity and incredible community spirit.
