United Way of Northern BC (UWNBC) and Coastal GasLink join forces to support non-profit agencies in Northern BC through Coastal GasLink – Legacy Fund

UWNBC is working hard to connect resources with local needs all across Northern BC. Non-profit agencies are in great need with these unprecedented and challenging times, and UWNBC remains committed to serving these agencies so they can continue helping the most vulnerable in our communities. As a major step in fulfilling this commitment, UWNBC has partnered with Coastal Gaslink to provide funding to critical programming and services in 16 communities across Northern BC.

The funding has been made available through the generosity of Coastal GasLink and their community-minded prime contractors – Surerus Murphy, SA Energy Group, Pacific Atlantic Pipeline Construction Inc. (PAPC), Macro-Speicapag, Ledcor-Haisla Limited Partnership, and Aecon. These wonderfully generous organizations and the people within have joined in the commitment to support their communities by raising an incredible $97,000 through this initiative.

The Coastal GasLink Legacy of Giving Fund aims to remove barriers by providing funding to recipients to address socioeconomic issues facing their local community. The fund is administered as a partnership between United Way of Northern BC (UWNBC) and Coastal GasLink in a matter consistent with the UWNBC Mission and funding areas and Coastal GasLink’s priority areas of socioeconomic challenges in Northern BC.

“We are incredibly grateful to partner with Coastal GasLink to bring this opportunity to the communities in Northern BC. We’d also like to acknowledge Coastal GasLink’s parent company, TC Energy, for adding to this fund through their Empower program.

Coastal GasLink’s commitment to helping others, as well as that of all of the contractors that gave so generously as part of this initiative, continues to make a tremendous difference to so many in the region, and we could not make the impact we do without these truly important partnerships,” says Trista Spencer, Executive Director, UWNBC.

“Community is really about people coming together for the greater good of everyone around them, and I can’t think of a better example than this Legacy Giving Fund to demonstrate just that.”

“Coastal GasLink is building more than a project. We’re committed to the wellbeing of the communities where we operate, and by supporting local organizations in their work to provide important services in Northern B.C. we are leaving a legacy for decades to come. Coastal GasLink is proud of our partnership with the United Way, helping them to care for the needs of the most vulnerable,” said Kent Wilfur, Vice-President, Project Delivery for Coastal GasLink. “We’re grateful to be able to help individuals in communities across the North.”

The application period will open on November 9th, 2021, and non-profit agencies will have until 11:59 PM on December 20th to submit their completed applications. For more details on the timeline, eligibility criteria, and the application package, click here.
