Annette Andrews is a communicator who has worked internationally and cross-culturally for nearly two decades in the areas of media, academia, and education. Her focus on relationship building and channels, development and implementation, research, writing, and editing continues to meaningfully engage the organizations and communities within which she lives and works.

She brings to her work an anti-racist, anti-oppressive lens and framing, and an urgency to understand, communicate and address the needs of those made to suffer vulnerabilities and precariousness within communities. Her commitment to communities in Canada centres in First Nations relationship building, the impacts of gender-based violence (GBV) and advocating to ameliorate the suffering that GBV exacts on women, girls, and families.

Annette lives in Northern British Columbia, Canada. She received a BA from Simon Fraser University in Communication and a minor in Women’s Studies, with a special focus on Magazine Publishing and Editing. When not writing, researching, or reading, Annette is entertaining the whims of her cat Pema and passion for Asia, engaged in challenging dialogue about topical issues, or meditating and practicing yoga.
