Hockey legend Richard “King Richard” Brodeur is joining other Vancouver Canucks Alumni at the 12th Annual Commonwealth Cup on July 23rd, 2019 at Aberdeen Glen Golf Course in Prince George in support of the event’s charity of choice, United Way of Northern BC.

Brodeur began his professional career being drafted to the NHL’s New York Islanders in 1972 and later joined the Canucks in 1980 playing with the team for almost 8 seasons.

One of the most beloved Vancouver Canucks players of all time, “King Richard” is also an accomplished artist, siting his painting as his “second passion”. Brodeur will not only be one of the Canuck Alumni to be auctioned off at this year’s Commonwealth Cup, but he will be donating an original painting.

Brodeur says, “When I paint, it puts a smile on my face and I am happy and to see someone looking at it being happy, I feel like I have done my job for myself and for somebody else and that is pretty cool and extremely satisfying”.

Roberta Squire, CEO of the United Way of Northern BC says, “it is really exciting to see a celebrity like Richard Brodeur coming forward to support us at this event. The funds will help where the need is the greatest in the City of PG. We also thank HSJ Lawyers, Commonwealth Financial and the other sponsors for this great example of community leadership.”
