United Way of Northern BC kicks off campaign at UNBC

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, 15th October 2018

The United Way of Northern BC’s UNBC fundraising campaign officially launches
at noon on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at the UNBC Wintergarden.
This year’s campaign has been spearheaded by a new UNBC committee –
Jacqueline Holler, Art Fredeen, Keith Egger and Taylor Bysouth – and runs until
November 2 with a number of activities.

The annual book sale is earmarked for Tuesday to Thursday, October 23 to 25,
from 10am to 2pm in the UNBC Wintergarden. Anyone passing by can make
donations towards books, CD’s, DVD’s and Games.

Taylor, a UNBC BComm student, is organizing the first ever student Halloween
Coin Drive on Wednesday, October 31 from 9am to 3pm. […]

Orange Day 2018

September 24, 2018

United Way of Northern BC – Indigenous Early Years Table (Success x 6) and Prince George Early Years will honour Orange Shirt Day on September 27, 2018 in Prince George.  (Original day is September 30th)

Orange Shirt Day: Every Child Matters is a grassroots event that acknowledges the harm that Canada’s residential school system had on generations of Indigenous families and their communities. The original day was September 30, but this year, Orange Shirt Day 2018 will be on September 27, 2018.  Canadians are asked to wear orange as as sign of support.

United Way Northern BC- NE had their 8th Fire Truck Pull

United Way Northern BC- NE had their 8th Fire Truck Pull on September 15th, 2018!

The feature fundraising event had 10 teams competing to pull the Fire Truck. The Enbridge team won the prize for most funds raised as they brought in $8,397. Congrats!

Other awards included: 

  • Progress Energy won for “Fastest Pull in Heavy Weight” category
  • Enbridge won another one for “Fastest Pull in Light Weight” category
  • Just Jacks from Chances Casino won the prize for “Most Spirited Team”.

The fundraising event was very successful and raised a total of $67,594.00! This total means that the 8th FireTruck pull was the highest grossing pull in the history of United Way of Northern BC. Big […]

This September 4th, Enbridge kicked off their campaign week and was out early raising funds on the 5th handing out McDonald’s breakfasts by donation to help those most vulnerable in Fort St. John.

Join us for the 8th Annual Fort St. John Fire Truck Pull, Saturday Sept 15th, 2018!

Gather a team of 10 people to help support United Way of Northern BC in our efforts to make Fort  St. John one of the healthiest communities in Northern BC. Your team will pull a fire truck weighing over 22,000 pounds for awards and best of all bragging rights!

10:00 AM Pancake Breakfast (by Gas Drive)
10:30 AM Team Check‐In
11:00 AM Event Kick Off & Final Face Off
12:00 PM Trophy Presentation & Wrap Up
12:30 PM BBQ Lunch (by Trojan Safety)

  • Participants must be 19 years or older
  • Up to 10 people per team, 5 people minimum
  • Please bring cash and cheque donations to the event by 10:30am

United Tour 2018 – Week 4

Day 15 – Mackenzie

We had a fantastic first day in Mackenzie on the North East Portion of our #unitedtournbc2018! We started the day meeting with Anna Babluck of the Mackenzie Public Library where we support the Tweens Pro-D Day, the Pro-D Day Crafts for children 6 to 9 and numerous Success by 6 programs.

Later on we had the opportunity to meet with Honourable Mayor Pat Crook and CAO Dean McKinley to discuss the opportunities and gaps in the District of Mackenzie and then met with the fantastic folks at the Mackenzie Arts Centre! Amelia showed our amazing #Canfor sponsors […]

United Tour 2018 – Week 3

Day 11 – Quesnel

Despite the unfortunate accident and damage to the RV, we’re leaving Quesnel in good spirits. We had a wonderful morning doing a bike rodeo with Northern Brain Injury Association at Dragon Lake Elementary. Fun times were had, bikes were checked and helmets fitted. After lunch we met with Mayor Simpson, Councillor Laurey-Anne Roodenburg and Jeff Norburn discussing the state of affairs in Quesnel. Then we went in to visit Sheila Norquay at Quesnel Women’s Resource Centre and finished our day popping in to Seasons House and our friends at Mr.Mikes.
