United Way of Northern BC kicks off campaign at UNBC

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, 15th October 2018

The United Way of Northern BC’s UNBC fundraising campaign officially launches
at noon on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at the UNBC Wintergarden.
This year’s campaign has been spearheaded by a new UNBC committee –
Jacqueline Holler, Art Fredeen, Keith Egger and Taylor Bysouth – and runs until
November 2 with a number of activities.

The annual book sale is earmarked for Tuesday to Thursday, October 23 to 25,
from 10am to 2pm in the UNBC Wintergarden. Anyone passing by can make
donations towards books, CD’s, DVD’s and Games.

Taylor, a UNBC BComm student, is organizing the first ever student Halloween
Coin Drive on Wednesday, October 31 from 9am to 3pm. […]

Homeless Action Week 2018 in Prince George – CONNECT DAY

On Connect Day, the Community Partners Addressing Homelessness connect homeless and homeless at risk individuals with agencies and resources that provide information, education and referrals. Backpacks with basic survival items are available.

Agencies wishing to participate are invited to contact Lynn Florey at florey@shaw.ca or Kerry Pateman at kpateman@shaw.ca

Donations of warm winter clothing & boots (new or gently used) would be appreciated.

Please bring to United Way of Northern BC office:
5th Floor, 1600 3rd Avenue by October 4th .

UNBC lead the “Trick or Treat – Halloween Coin Drive”

We are so excited to have Taylor Bysouth, BComm Student at UNBC lead the “Trick or Treat – Halloween
Coin Drive”. For the first time students are invited to partake in the UNBC Campaign that runs from 15
October to 2 November.

Taylor and Michele have been visiting Club Tables at UNBC to promote the drive. Students can enter individually or as a team. Dress up in your favourite costume or promote your club … whatever they like.

Orange Day 2018

United Way of Northern BC – Indigenous Early Years Table (Success x 6) and Prince George Early Years will honour Orange Shirt Day on September 27, 2018 in Prince George.  (Original day is September 30th)

Orange Shirt Day: Every Child Matters is a grassroots event that acknowledges the harm that Canada’s residential school system had on generations of Indigenous families and their communities. The original day was September 30, but this year, Orange Shirt Day 2018 will be on September 27, 2018.  Canadians are asked to wear orange as as sign of support.

United Way of Northern BC Community Investment Grant awarded to Active Support Against Poverty

Prince George, BC – United Way of Northern BC (UWNBC) is pleased to announce that it has awarded a $5,500 grant to Active Support Against Poverty (ASAP) for its General Program Fund for 2018-2019 funding cycle.
