United Way of Northern British Columbia has been the Service Canada Designated Community Entity for homelessness since 2014. The Government of Canada redesigned the Homelessness Partnering Strategy – Reaching Home, which came into effect April 1, 2019. Through the Reaching Home community-based approach, the United Way of Northern British Columbia will continue in their role as the Community Entity assisting the community, addressing challenges by collaborating with the province, indigenous organizations, local non for profits, and private sector stakeholders to prevent and reduce homelessness.
