PHOTO Opportunity:  Upcoming “Day of Caring®” Project through United Way

Prince George, BC – United Way Northern BC (UWNBC) is busy planning a “Day of Caring®” with Brookfield Renewable to help Robson Valley Support Society (RVSS) with the Open Gate Community Garden on Saturday, 21st July 2018 –from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.  We invite your coverage at the following Day of Caring® Event:

Saturday, 21st July 2018 – Brookfield Renewable and Robson Valley Support Society – 8:00 am to 12:00 noon (Open Gate Community Garden – McBride)

With the generous help of volunteers from Brookfield Renewable the Open Gate Community Garden received help making compost, hilling potatoes, painting a shed, mowing grass, weeding and creating some signage for individual garden plots.  Through the generous commitment of United Way volunteers, people will have access to fresh vegetables later this year.

“Brookfield is proud to be a business member in McBride and a United Way Partner.  We appreciate the opportunity to give back and participate in this important community project.” says Debbi Stanyer, Manager, Compliance and Licensing at Brookfield.

Jana MacMaster, Program Supervisor at RVSS says, “Robson Valley Support Society is excited to partner with UWNBC & Brookfield Renewable in the Day of Caring® event.  It is a great opportunity for community members to be involved in the Open Gate Community Garden, and to show the direct engagement from UWNBC and Renewable Energy with the residents in the community of McBride. We are thankful to be a part of this entire experience”.

Days of Caring® are opportunities for businesses to work with non-profits to complete projects that otherwise would not be completed.  Corporates that partake in Days of Caring® allows staff to give back, team build and help United Way funded agencies to have projects completed that would normally not get done.  Assistance like this is of huge value to not-for-profits and working together helps build stronger communities.

If businesses or agencies would like to request a Day of Caring® – please contact Michele Brooke (details listed below).
